Close To The Water

"Close to the Water" is the third episode of a series of surf videos that tell intimate stories about people who pursue surfing in a different way and with non-standard wave riding tools.
I am immensely proud to present Demi Taylor, a Cornish born surfer, traveller, writer and surf film festival director and to have her story in the first season of FRINGESURFER.TV.
During my travels to three continents, meeting with people who share my passion for prone surfing, I only encountered three women who surfed mats.
Female prone surfers are as underrepresented as alternative surfing in general, and I would love to see that change.
Therefore I am incredibly excited to share her story here with you.
Demi rides all sorts of different surf craft: Shortboards, longboard and everything in between.
And she does not shy away from sliding more fringe surfing vehicles like handplanes, bellyboards and surfmats.
In "Close to the Water" we watch her ride the latter with a big smile, and we hear her talk about why she loves riding that strange airbag.
Demi also shares how being so close to the water can give you a totally new perspective of the little and beautiful wonders in the surf.
