Shaped by the Elements follows Brisa Hennessy, Jake Marshall and Imaikalani DeVault as they
explore their relationship with water, air, earth and fire—natural forces that not only transform the landscape, but have also shaped their identities, their surfing and the way they understand life.
Through intimate imagery, powerful landscapes and moments of contemplation, the film presents surfing as an experience of connection and self-discovery. Each wave becomes an encounter with the present; each element, a reflection of the inner forces that move, challenge and transform its protagonists.
Filmed in El Salvador, the 21-minute short film is a visual and emotional exploration of what shapes us: the places we inhabit, the experiences we move through and the natural world of which we are inevitably a part.
