Surfers are privileged witnesses to the fragility of the oceans and the catastrophic degradation of the environment.

In the Basque Country, in the fall of 2018, inspired by the marches for the climate, a dozen people decide to act together to be the voice of the ocean and mobilize their community.

For ten months, tirelessly, whatever the weather conditions and the state of the ocean, they paddle everywhere on the coast to express their awareness of the climate emergency and to call for individual and collective change.

This film, Rame pour ta Planète, is the story of this mobilization.

SURFRIDER FOUNDATION EUROPE

Dedicated to the protection of oceans and coastlines, Surfrider Foundation Europe lobbies, informs, and collaborates to preserve this exceptional natural heritage.

Seas and oceans are threatened by strong anthropogenic pressures of artificialisation via coastal structures, urbanization, water pollution and macro-waste (plastic marine trash) which are undermining the quality of our environment.

It is essential to respect and protect this natural heritage for ourselves and future generations.

This is the message our local chapters broadcast all over Europe.

Dynamic and determined, they lead local actions to raise awareness to protect our coastlines into the future.

In the field, our independent laboratories and our "Keepers of the Coast" document and make available coastline conditions.

They inform our surveillance network to establish current and ongoing conditions of our beaches, as well as acting locally to protect water resources from pollution and artificialisation of the coastlines.
