How surfing helped me heal my grief

On September 27, 2006, I lost my dad to suicide.

For years, I carried the weight of grief, fear, and sadness. I was afraid that letting go meant forgetting him. But with time, I learned that grief is not about forgetting, it’s about remembering with love, compassion, and gratitude.
Surfing became my greatest therapy. It’s where I feel closest to my dad, where I reconnect with the water he loved so much, and where I’ve learned to transform pain into healing. Every wave reminds me of him, his joy, his laughter, his love of life.

In this video, I share my journey of grief and healing, and how the ocean continues to guide me back to my heart 💙

If you’ve ever struggled with loss, I hope this story helps you feel less alone, and reminds you that healing is possible.
