Out Front: Santa Cruz

28/12/2021 - 12:41
Santa Cruz County has some of the most consistent, diverse and varied surf in the country, if not the world.

Right pointbreaks, slabby reefs, wedgy beachbreak, slow peelers — plus a wide-open exposure to pretty much any swell the Pacific can produce and enough varied geography and kelp to ensure that somewhere’s always glassy.

On any given day of the year, somewhere in its 30-mile stretch of coastline has a rideable wave.

One some days, there are a dozen spots going off at the same exact time.

The above edit, created by NorCal filmers Perry Gershkow and Kyle Buthman — and featuring locals like Noah Wegrich, Nat Young, Flea Virotsko and more — offers an insider’s look at Surf City North.
