Moroccan Surf Film

26/05/2024 - 10:53
"This moroccan surf short film tells the story of a young berber who is torn between the loss of his fisherman father and his passion for the ocean. „

The sea is my life“ he used to say. Without spoken words the film shows the internal conversations and inner turmoil of the growing boy. After the loss of his father he struggles to find happiness but eventually gathers new faith through the power of the ocean. The discovery of surfing brings him peace and joy and ultimately friendship and meaning."

Produced by Ayoub Abouizza and directed by Felix Gänsicke, Javi Postigo and Jose Postigo.
Filmed on location in Morocco in 2021.
The boy was played by Abdola Azrwal and Yassine Snoopy. His father was played by Cherif Baye.

The gear used for this film as very very limited and compact:
Sony A7s III with a Ninja V and a set of vintage Leica R Primes. The watershots were shot on the same setup housed by an Ikelite housing. There was a Ronin RS2 as well.

We have to shout out the biggest of thanks to CJ Mirra who designed the soundscape of the first half and the song from minute 10.
Huge thank also go to all of the surfers Miguel Blanco, Teva Bouchgoua and Boubker Bouada who invested a lot in spending more than a month with us in morocco during the pandemic but were served with empty waves in return.
